Fresno County Extreme Heat Analysis & Shade Adaptation Plan
VRPA Technologies, Inc. is proud to have supported the Fresno Council of Governments and Dudek in the development of the Extreme Heat Analysis and Shade Adaptation Plan, recently accepted by the Fresno COG Policy Board.
As part of the project team, Carolina Ilic, MCP, AICP, Principal Transportation Planner, and Erik Ruehr, Director of Traffic Engineering, VRPA led public outreach and technical analysis to help understand the impacts of extreme heat on people walking, biking, and taking transit throughout Fresno County.
The plan provides local jurisdictions with practical examples and strategies for addressing extreme heat, with a focus on transportation users and communities that may experience greater vulnerability - including children, older adults, and underserved communities.
We’re proud to contribute to a project that brings together community input, technical analysis, and actionable adaptation strategies to help inform future transportation and infrastructure planning.
Congratulations to Matthew Shimizu from Fresno COG, Rose Newberry, AICP, WEDG from Dudek, and all of the project partners, stakeholders, and community members who helped bring this important work forward!
